Healthcare practice is constantly evolving to meet a growing demand for the availability of suitably trained and experienced staff resources. We are fully committed to ensuring that you are constantly improving your skill sets and abilities for carrying out a range of duties to current standards of compliance, efficiency and effectiveness.

Being aware of new and evolving research-backed practice enables you to exchange informed advice and apply its principles across a wide, patient care landscape.

The Care Certificate

One of the most important elements of our staff training approach is helping you to work towards The Care Certificate. The training is primarily intended for Healthcare Support Workers and Adult Social Care Workers plus associated Health Care Assistants, Assistant Practitioners, Care Support Workers and anyone with direct patient contact.

The Care Certificate is an agreed set of 15 minimum standards that sets out the knowledge, skills and behaviours expected of specific job roles in the health and social care sectors, and which form part of a robust induction programme.
An average training time of 12 weeks is required to demonstrate expected competencies and knowledge, which may vary according to your individual training needs.

The standardised training, which is monitored by The Care Quality Commission to ensure compliance, ensures the right foundations for learning and development are provided at the start of a support worker’s career. Of equal importance, the Certificate training is also intended for building a sense of professional self-value at the outset.

MCA + DoLS (Mental Capacity Act & Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards)

It is essential that our staff always act in the best interests of patients and recipients of their care support.

Training protocols are in place to ensure that you are fully compliant with respecting the freedoms of residents in care homes and patients in hospitals, and their rights not compromised or inappropriately restricted by the care received.

The Mental Capacity Act (2005) – of which DoLs forms a part – is a crucial safeguard for the human rights of those who may – or may be assumed – to lack mental capacity to make decisions, in particular, consenting to proposed care and treatment.

The MAYBO model is a standard applied in dynamic, violent risk assessment, for helping you assess conflict situations and to make safer choices, including:

  • Personal safety training
  • Lone worker training
  • Physical intervention training

The skill sets offered by MAYBO are designed help create a safe and positive environment for you and all service users.
